Top Court mulls Ariz. immigration law (KSAT)
The Top Court is bracing for an additional election-year legal and political
fight over Arizona’s immigration law, that has met strong opposition in the
Federal government. Dental arguments is going to be held Wednesday morning.
At problem is whether or not states have authority to part of to enforce
immigration matters or whether that’s the exclusive role from the federal
government. In dry legal terms, this constitutional question is called pre-
emption.
Federal courts have blocked four key areas of the state’s Support Our Law
Enforcement and Safe Communities Act, referred to as SB 1070. Arizona will inform
our prime court that illegal immigration is creating financial struggles and
safety concerns because of its citizens, which the us government has lengthy
unsuccessful to manage the issue.
The administration intends to counter that by saying immigration issues are
under its exclusive authority and condition “interference” would only make matters
worse.
